Given that reading works of others is simply one "weapon", one needs to examine George Orwell's es take "Why I Write", where he says "I think there are four great motives for writing?..Sheer egoism?Esthetic vehemence?Historical impulse?.political purpose?.When I sit guttle to write a book, I do not say to myself 'I am going to produce a work of art.' I write because there is something I want to expose, some concomitant to which I want to draw attention, and my initial concern to get a hearing" (Orwell 1947 314-15).
That doesn't mean reading is not valuable. The duty kind of reading, of course. W. Reading, as was mentioned earlier, is just one of the weapons a good, thoughtful writer needs. It is not a calculate of being "successful" in terms of popularity.
Instead, it is a social occasion of being well prepared, working our your thesis and plot, rounding out your characters, and, when and if necessary, knowing how others did it before you began. Influence on a writer is limitless. It is just a matter of using them.
