Multiple Sclerosis

-Have you ever seen a flickering visible light bulb in a lamp or light fixture? When you flick the electrical switch, the light may flash on for a fraction of a second and then go off. -Sometimes, if you keep turning the switch on and off, the light eventu eachy stays on. Or it may go on for preferably a few minutes and then flutter or go out all together. -The problem is caused by a poor connection. A bug in the wiring interrupts the flow of electricity to the light, though it doesnt stop all of the electrical flow and in situation sometimes allows the light to perform perfectly. -There is no way to annunciate exactly when and how this glitch will affect the light bulb. -That is basically what happens to a person with Multiple Sclerosis. The name of one of the non-profit agencies Ive been volunteering at that I decided to do my presentation on is the MS Society of Canada. adjoining Slide. The MS Society is a worldwide organization mainly branching through Canada and the Unites States. Next Slide. Their mission statement is To be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their property of life. Next Slide.

Since the founding in 1948, the core support of the MS Society has been from tens of thousands of dedicated individuals, companies and foundations in communities across Canada involved in many fundraising events. The main ones Im involved in year-to-year are The MS Walk, Rona MS Bike Tour and the MS Carnation Campaign. Next Slide. The Society receives almost no documentation from government. 88% of revenue is made through the donations and special events which goes to give tongue to you how much of an impact us as volunteers and donators have on societies such as this. 83% of the MS Society earn revenue is devoted to program areas such as MS research, services for people with MS and their families, MS clinics, social action, public education and awareness, and chapter development.
