Dali was born Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalà i Domènech on 11 May 1904 in Catalonia, Spain. Salvador Dali was a Spanish artist of the twentieth century, best known for his Surrealist paintings. He also worked in film, sculpture, photography, fashion, and theatre, and penned a novel, Hidden Faces. He was known for his outlandish personality and style, such as his flamboyant trademark moustache, as well as for his ground-breaking art.
Salvador Dalis prowess ranged from just a little puss strange to overpoweringly absurd, but his gift was in utilize just enough realism in his work so that viewing audience would believe despite the absurdity of the situation. Dali also substantial new techniques such as double images. The double images that he uses in his art stress his ideas of moving the eyes. The artwork is The Persistence of Memory, 1931. First shown at the Julien Levy Gallery in 1932, the painting has been in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City since 1934. The original title of this painting is La persistencia de la memoria and it depicts a foetus- uniform head lying on the ground, like a fish that was washed ashore and now decaying afterward a lost struggle gasping for air. There are tetrad watches in this painting, three of which appear to be molten, as if make out of cheese.
